This award is presented to the Alberta Community Futures office that goes the extra mile to support their clients with disabilities. Criteria for selection is based on year-over-year growth of reported clients with disabilities served plus supports accessed through the Alberta Entrepreneurs with Disabilities platform of programs. This year also saw the introduction of our new Elevate program that offers even more support to this group of clients. Read more

Growing up you felt coordinated if you could walk and chew gum. If you were feeling brave, you might attempt to ride your bike and chew gum, but that was the height of your multitasking.
Fast forward thirty years. People are now walking and riding while chewing gum, drinking coffee, sending emails, texting, adding friends, tweeting, talking, messaging, taking pictures, videos, blogging, reading and much much more.

Community Futures across Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan provide many services including the ELEVATE Program. Over the course of the year, we will be highlighting all 56 offices.
On today’s blog we are featuring Community Futures Meridian.
Meridian is located in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. Kindersley is a community of more than 5,000 residents, located in the heart of west central Saskatchewan. Kindersley is as progressive today as when the first settlers appeared more than 100 years ago. The region depends on the oil sector and with the recent economic condition there have been many trials for families in their region.

ELEVATE is a dynamic new business building program for youth and adults with a disability or health condition interested in starting a business. This program assists entrepreneurs locating their businesses in rural, remote or northern communities in Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba.
